What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer (OBD) position at Confidential?
The OBD Production Vehicle Evaluation (PVE) Test Engineer is responsible for executing assigned OBD diagnostic demonstration programs which are submitted to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to support OBD certification.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ordering test vehicles
- Managing vehicle buildup, testing, and de-instrumentation and generating work order requests for vehicle instrumentation as needed
- Completing PVE testing following internally published best practices. This includes the following:
- Use of CAN and LIN communication software to ensure detection of networking faults
- Interfacing with a breakout harness and installing resistors on electrical lines to ensure detection of circuit faults
- Utilizing hardware (e.g. different EGR valves) to ensure detection of various faults
- Driving of company vehicles on road for fault detection as needed
- Taking Vehicle Diagnostic scans for data collection
- Facilitate the investigation of issues found during testing with Engineering teams
- Analyzing results to ensure faulted demonstration per documented procedures
- Support OBD Reporting Engineering with updates to documented procedures as needed
- Support identification and read across of procedural concerns within the consolidated procedures document
- Submit requests to Instrumentation to have new breakout harnesses built as needed

Additional Must Haves
- This position will require working onsite 100%
- Minimum 2 years experience in OBD testing, certification, compliance, emissions testing, or similar
- Driving Required: Yes, the position will require some driving on-road
