Summary:Position Reports To: Pharmacy Manager
- Inventories existing supplies and pharmaceutical products and reorders appropriate quantities for replenishment.
- Ensures appropriate and cost-effective product selection. Ensures availability of equivalent products or alternatives when the preferred product is not available.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Manager to procure therapeutically equivalent product when the preferred products are not available.
- Works with wholesaler and distributors to make certain we are receiving appropriate pricing due to pricing updates, market share contracts.
- Assists the Director in evaluating market share contracts and other pharmaceutical purchasing contracts.
- Reports pharmaceutical purchasing trends and cost containment strategies to the Director on a monthly basis.
- Tracks and maintains pharmaceutical rebates.
- Orders all supplies for the IV room, including storeroom and special orders.
- Maintains and reorders robot packaging supplies, chemicals, pharmacy supplies (ie UD cups, labels, tubexes, etc.) and other miscellaneous special order supplies.
- Collaborates with other hospital departments to procure and distribute requisitions.
- Maintains and bills commercial and hospital accounts and performs miscellaneous charge posting.
- Tracks loans, borrows, transfers, repairs, consignments and other transactions as required.
- Maintains and submits hospital based workload statistics.
- Orders controlled substances maintained in the narcotic room. Responsible for communicating to the core technician when receiving a schedule II narcotic order in order for the core technician to restock inventory in a timely manner.
- Maintains the DEA 222 forms. Makes sure the forms are ordered, maintains the record-keeping book, and forwards appropriate forms to the DEA.
- Responsible for preparing and delivering all expired medications to the reverse distributor and tracks credits from manufacturers.
- Performs a bi-annual inventory of pharmacy stock.
- Maintains inventory levels and product selection in the Robot and AcuDose.
- Returns recalled medications and all overstocked medications and ensures that proper credit is received.
- Compiles data for Operational Report Card bi-annually.
- Posts all non-formulary medication charges.
- Reviews AcuDose discrepancies for accurate resolution and billing.
- Properly documents all dispensing/return activities within the narcotic room.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the department.
- Helps technicians with receiving orders and restocking inventory as needed.
- Answers the telephone, door, and pharmacy window when applicable.
- Communicates positively and effectively in a team approach with co-workers within and outside the department.
- Attends meetings as required.
- High School graduate.
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
- Two years Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.
- Certification as Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
- Basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication and password management.
- Associate of Arts/Science or Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in a hospital setting.
