Confluent Medical Technologies is growing! We're looking for a Laser Process Development Engineer, Senior Staff to join our Fremont, CA team!
As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will:
- Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, be responsible for process development – from proof-of-concept prototypes to sustained manufacturing validation
- Includes planning/coordinating engineering activities, studies and programs in support of standard production and new product development.
- Process implementation for applications such as laser cutting, laser welding, and deburring small medical components.
- Be responsible for laser cutting and welding process development, including programming, motion system tuning, optimization, parameter development, troubleshooting, and documentation
- CAM programming improvements using SMARTCAM and Cagila. Develop post processors and streamline HMI interfaces.
- Mechanical process development, product selection, evaluation, and capability testing, along with selection of other relevant equipment and tooling.
- Support and provide equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements.
- Propose, evaluate, and validate additional I/O and automation controls for existing and new laser systems
- Follow health, safety and environmental programs for preventative maintenance – adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all hazards are properly managed.
- Investigate potential new laser cutting and welding technologies, collaborate with applications/outside labs for proof of concept
- BS degree in a relevant discipline and 7-8 or more years of related engineering experience. Or:
- MS degree and 5 or more years of related engineering experience.
- Ph. D degree in science/engineering field and 3 or more years of related engineering experience
- Are experienced with CAM programming and development
- Have laser cutting and/or laser welding experience
- Have solid background in SolidWorks/3D modeling and design.
- Have significant engineering expertise
- Experience in the medical device industry
- Possess good English communication skills – both written and oral
- Experience with laser scanning systems (galvo and polygon)
