The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and server systems to ensure efficient operations for both internal and customer-facing infrastructure. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead projects and mentor team members on new and emerging technologies. The IT Network Engineer will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity and availability of IT resources, while also assisting with specialized projects and providing technical support to staff and customers across various disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage internal and customer-facing servers, network devices, and firewalls.
- Proactively maintain and monitor server, network, and firewall systems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Design and implement monitoring, configuration management, and reporting tools for system optimization.
- Develop and execute project plans, including risk assessments and contingency plans.
- Define, document, and share best practices and support procedures.
- Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies, as needed.
- Maintain detailed inventory and asset configuration documentation.
- Assist with hardware, firewall, and software vendor evaluations, recommendations.
- Mentor and train team members on existing and emerging technologies.
- Execute special projects as directed by management.
- Collaborate with customers and internal staff across multiple technical and engineering disciplines, as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience managing IT deployments and rollouts.
- Demonstrated understanding of LAN/WAN networking principles.
- Certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Server Administrator.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.
- Knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems (preferred).
- Expertise in troubleshooting network issues, including VPNs, with the ability to guide remote technical personnel.
- Proficient in LAN routing and switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting (e.g., VLANs, IP Subnetting).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet project deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing new technology deployments and team development.
