Your New Job
Our CNS operating unit provides turn key services to support Fiber to the Home network deployments and we are looking for a GIS Data Analyst to join our team. This position includes, but is not limited to, basic network design, inputting information into key systems, review of fiber plant builds, bill of material creation, some material management, answering project-related questions, site visits, and other tasks assigned by the Director of Engineering. This position’s responsibilities will include giving direct support to the Permitting, Fiber and Outside Plant Design Team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Will design digital maps using geospatial data while analyzing spatial and non-spatial information.
- Will prepare and assist, as required, GIS mapping, database management, and application development.
- Prepares mapping for field and office personnel and will visit the field to perform GPS duties of existing infrastructure or survey potential areas of interest.
- Use QGIS, ComSof, ArcGIS, and Vetro to determine optimal routes and digitize fiber network components including conduit, fiber cable, splice points and fiber access points.
- Work with Plant Designers to enter data on fiber splice assignments and port assignments.
- Work closely with a lead OSP Engineer, Underground Engineering Lead and Fiber Designer to fulfill designs and bring projects to completion, as well as work on existing fiber systems.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain GIS applications.
- Analyze and solve complex GIS problems.
- Collaborate with other BU and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Prepare technical documentation and user guides.
- Monitor GIS applications and systems for performance and accuracy.
- Perform regular maintenance and upgrades of GIS software and applications.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
- Stay up-to-date on new GIS technologies and trends.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Research, assess, integrate, manipulate, extract, and analyze spatial data for both geospatial and operational databases, and various ancillary sources.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Technical training in desktop GIS environments, specifically QGIS, ArcGIS, ArcMap, and Vetro
- Knowledge of web-based GIS workflows including accessing, editing, and maintaining integrity of multi-user web GIS data
- Ability to analyze and interpret aerial and terrestrial imagery (photogrammetry, LiDAR), parcel data and address data.
- Implement drafting and design standards for fiber network design.
- Knowledge of cartographic principles, ability to effectively communicate construction plans through printed and web maps.
- Ability to effectively utilize MS Office (SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
- Experience with AutoCAD, CAD, Javascript, Agile, QGIS, GIS, SQL, Python, and Geo Database software and system.
- Familiar with datasets, scripting, and editing.
- Experience with relational databases.
