As the Director of ESG, you will lead the development and implementation of the Company’s Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) strategy, ensuring alignment with our corporate mission and values. This role will work cross-functionally on a global basis and will be responsible for integrating ESG principles into our business operations, driving sustainability initiatives, and enhancing our corporate reputation in the medical device industry. This role will be responsible for driving the requirements, processes, and systems connectivity across CONMED. This is a remote position with travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy that aligns with the Company’s goals and objectives.
- Devise and manage Governance of the ESG Program, to include oversight by the Board of Directors and management by an ESG Executive Steering Committee.
- Develop and implement methodologies to accurately measure and report the Company’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions for regulatory and reporting purposes. Lead annual process to report GHG emissions per regulatory requirements.
- Establish and manage an Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Collaborate cross-functionally on preparation for compliance with various regulations, such as the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU CSRD) and California Climate Rules.
- Analyze and evaluate stakeholder requests for ESG related information. Develop and implement efficient procedures and systems for timely and appropriate responses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations into product development, supply chain management, and operational processes.
- Lead the production and publication of the Company’s annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor ESG rater and ranker reports and submit data verification requests as needed.
- Monitor and report on ESG performance metrics to senior management and the Board of Directors, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Continuously enhance CONMED’s data controls and processes and disclosure strategy and discipline, including partnership with Internal Audit and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards. This involves staying up-to-date with regulatory changes, conducting regular audits, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Stay informed of emerging ESG trends, regulations, and best practices within the medical device industry.
- Foster a culture of sustainability and social responsibility across the organization through training and awareness programs.

- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years experience
- Up to 40% travel
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting protocols, renewable energy systems, and sustainability frameworks.
- Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks and standards, such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
- Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or life science industry strongly preferred.
