Job Title: Controller
Location: Chicago - Hybrid
Type: Full-Time, Permanent/Direct Hire
Pay Range: $180,000 - $200,000 base salary plus 20-30% bonus

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual financial statements
- Oversee and actively manage daily accounting operations
- Manage payment of expenses, perform quarterly closing and journal entries
- Coordinate and directly support external audits
- Manage accounting for purchase and sale transactions, including due diligence, review of agreements, closing statement, treasury and acquisition and disposition reporting.
- Review and validate investment valuations
- Actively review, design and implement streamlined financial processes and internal controls
- Calculate Gross and Net IRRs and other performance metrics
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of investor marketing materials including the pitch book, annual investor meeting and fundraising
- Monitor all cash management functions of the funds and management companies
- Compute and prepare capital call and distribution notifications to the LP’s and GP’s
- Perform monthly bank account reconciliations
- Manage the lines of credit established to bridge capital calls
- Facilitate tax preparation and planning in accordance with agreements
- Work with senior management on project-based work, including the preparation of periodic reports and variance analyses and corporate budgeting and forecasting
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA or equivalent advanced certification is preferred
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with significant hands-on experience in fund reporting
- Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day accounting operations while driving internal processes and efficiency improvements
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills with a proactive attitude
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
