Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Real Estate Fund Controller to oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions for their real estate investment funds. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Fund Controller will be a critical member of the finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing valuable insights to support investment decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong understanding of real estate fund accounting to contribute significantly to a dynamic and growing organization.
Fund Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily fund accounting, including general ledger, payables/receivables, and cash.
- Prepare timely financial statements and investor reports (quarterly/annually).
- Manage capital calls and distributions.
- Develop financial models for performance analysis and forecasting.
- Assist in due diligence for acquisitions/dispositions.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with auditors and third-party administrators.
- Respond to investor financial inquiries.
- Potentially manage junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with other departments.
- Work with tax advisors on fund tax compliance.
Fund Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related. CPA preferred.
- 5 years of real estate fund accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and partnership accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial software (Yardi or RealPage a plus).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
