Job Overview
As a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for managing the inbound and outbound flow of materials, products, and supplies. Your primary focus will be on maintaining accurate inventory records, processing shipments, and ensuring that all goods are handled safely and efficiently. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using our computerized inventory management system
- Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventory audits
- Monitor stock levels and report discrepancies or low inventory to the appropriate personnel
- Assist in implementing and maintaining inventory control procedures
- Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends and potential issues
- Receiving Operations:
- Unload incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips
- Inspect received goods for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to the supervisor
- Process and enter receiving information into the inventory management system
- Label and store received items in appropriate locations within the warehouse
- Coordinate with vendors and carriers to resolve any delivery issues or discrepancies
- Shipping Operations:
- Prepare outgoing shipments by selecting appropriate packaging materials and methods
- Accurately pick and pack orders according to customer specifications
- Create and print shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation
- Coordinate with carriers for pickup and delivery of outbound shipments
- Track shipments and communicate status updates to customers and internal teams
- Material Handling:
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently
- Organize and maintain the warehouse layout to optimize space utilization and workflow
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage and maintain quality
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations when handling materials
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all shipping and receiving activities
- Process and file all necessary paperwork, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documents
- Assist in preparing reports on shipping and receiving activities, inventory levels, and other relevant metrics
