Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist
Location: Welch, West Virginia
Connected Health Care, a leading recruitment and staffing firm, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist for one of our partnered county hospitals in Welch, WV. This is a full-time position in a general lab setting, offering competitive pay and the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Schedule & Compensation
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Shift: 5x8-hour shifts per week (includes an unpaid 30-minute lunch break)
Compensation: Up to $1,162 per week
Job Duties
Conduct medical lab tests in clinical areas, such as chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, bacteriology, serology, parasitology, and blood banking to provide diagnostic data for patient treatment.
Perform minor maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
Collect, cultivate, isolate, identify, and analyze specimens.
Cut, stain, and mount tissue sections for microscopic analysis.
Group, type, and crossmatch blood for donors and recipients to ensure compatibility.
Read and interpret physician and supervisor orders to determine specific testing requirements.
Explain testing procedures to patients when applicable to relieve anxiety and gain cooperation.
Conduct appropriate clinical test preparation and processing procedures.
Prepare and maintain proper records, logs, files, and reports.
Requirements
Licensure & Certification: Must have West Virginia Clinical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Licensure & Certification.
Education & Experience:
High school graduate with 1 year of in-service training in a Medical Lab Assistant Program accredited by the American Medical Association , OR
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in an accredited medical lab program may substitute for the required experience.
