Accounting Manager

Report to the Chief Financial Officer and lead a staff of 1. Last person in this role was promoted to Controller within 2 years, so looking for someone with promotion upside. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.

• Own payroll processes, processing and auditing regular payroll cycles
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements, support related audit activities and execution of corporate financial controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial reports
• Assess current accounting practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements—knowledge of revenue recognition accounting standards required
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Supervise and/or manage procurement and general ledger accounting functions
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Work with external tax accountants to support preparation and filing of federal and state taxes, in addition to supporting the R&D tax credit study process.
• Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
• Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems, including NetSuite general ledger

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
