The Preferred Communities (PC) team at CIRI is seeking a dedicated intern to support case managers in assisting refugees and other vulnerable immigrant populations. This unpaid internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in refugee resettlement, social services, and client advocacy.

The Preferred Communities (PC) team at CIRI is seeking a dedicated intern to support case managers in assisting refugees and other vulnerable immigrant populations. This unpaid internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in refugee resettlement, social services, and client advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients in understanding public benefits such as Social Security Insurance (SSI), Medicaid, and other available support programs.
- Help clients navigate the healthcare system by connecting them with medical providers, scheduling appointments, and arranging transportation if needed.
- Provide guidance on medical billing, insurance coverage, and payment assistance programs.
- Support case managers in tracking client progress and maintaining case notes.
- Conduct outreach to local healthcare providers and community resources.
- Assist in administrative tasks, including data entry and document preparation.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Relations, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
- Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, French) is a plus.
- Commitment: Minimum of 10-15 hours per week for at least 10 weeks (flexible based on academic requirements).

- Supervision: Interns will receive direct supervision and mentorship from experienced case managers.
