The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) invites qualified applicants to apply to join our team as a Secretary 2, in our Central Office, located in Hartford, CT.
Position Highlights :
- Located at 39 Woodland Street in Hartford
- 12-month position
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- First (1st) shift Monday - Friday 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m.
- This position may require travel
The Role :
In this role, you will work out of our CTECS Central Office with responsibility for providing clerical support to the Executive Office, including the Executive Director, Superintendent, and Chief of Staff. Additionally, you will coordinate schedules and calendars, and manage office operations. Critical elements of the position include being our front line of communication, both written and verbally, with State agencies, government leaders, school personnel, students, and parents.

CTECS operates 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, one technical education center, and two airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance programs. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency, this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of secretarial support functions requiring an understanding of organizational policies and procedures.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Considerable knowledge of office systems and procedures; proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; business communications; interpersonal skills; and oral and written communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as a Secretary 1 or its equivalent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in the secretarial sciences may be substituted for the General Experience.
