Associate Pastor - Care

Description

As an Associate Pastor of Care, you are an integral member of the Life-Changing Relationships team. The Associate Pastor is responsible for providing pastoral care to congregants and visitors. The Associate Pastor will be available before/after services for prayer and care needs. The Pastor will provide care to those in need, triaging the need(s) to determine next steps to include counseling and care groups referrals or providing other resources. The Pastor will conduct routine hospital, nursing home, and shut-in visits, as well as participate in the Pastor-on-call rotation to handle emergency calls and general care needs.

Responsibilities

CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS

As an Associate Pastor of Care, your role centers around fostering a community where individuals can engage in meaningful relationships and spiritual growth. Serving on rotation as Pastor On Call, you are engaging the community in time of their greatest need and will offer pastoral support and direction to connect them to Jesus. You will assist with equipping leaders and volunteers to provide ongoing discipleship, mentorship, and support. Your role creates a welcoming environment where congregants feel cared for and encouraged in their faith journey. Additionally, prayer and personalized engagement ensures that members have access to pastoral guidance, helping them deepen their relationship with Christ and one another.

CONNECTING PEOPLE TO EACH OTHER

As an Associate Pastor of Care, your role fosters pastoral support connecting individuals to care groups, counseling, and other resources based on felt need. Your role fosters connections among individuals through engagement of care needs in times of crisis. Your role bridges the connection between those in need to appropriate individuals and resources facilitating deeper relationships within the community.

PERSONAL GROWTH

• Consistently seek personal and professional growth through prayer, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and training opportunities
• Maintain a healthy work-life balance and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout and maintain effectiveness in ministry
• Stay current with trends in theology, church leadership, and community development, adapting strategies and approaches as needed
• Attend a weekly service to stay in tune with the direction of Connection Pointe and to continue developing spiritually

How You’ll Succeed

• Be available before/after services for prayer and other care needs that arise. Listen, pray and offer a next step as needed.
• Be a part of the rotation for Pastor On Call coverage and respond appropriately.
• Provide initial pastoral counsel and offer appropriate referral to counseling or care groups.
• Conduct weddings and funerals, including pastoral care and interactions before and after as needed.
• Work as part of the Good Neighbor committee providing benevolent direction/resources in accordance with guidelines and recommending additional resource assistance as needed.
• Work with small groups to assist with placement needs, care provider training, and as a resource for group leaders to provide care within their groups.
• Respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours of being in the office.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Counseling, or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of previous pastoral or counseling experience in a church, ministry, non-profit, healthcare or related field.
• Has a personal relationship with Christ and committed to being part of the Connection Pointe Family.
• High moral character and personal integrity.
• Always maintain strict confidentiality and sensitivity.
• Ability to train, lead, & minister to hybrids and volunteers.
• Has developed a high level of discernment and discretion.
• Must be patient, compassionate, and called to minister to others.
• Demonstrated compassionate & engaging interpersonal skills relevant for a diverse church family.
• Flexible and able to adapt quickly in case of changing priorities as directed by leadership.
• Strong initiative and decision-making skills with appropriate direction from leadership. 
• Thrives while working as a teammate with a ministry team, alongside other ministry teams and volunteers.

Bonus Points

• Experience in a megachurch or large non-profit
• Experience with benevolent ministry needs

Where You’ll Be

You will primarily be in an office environment primarily on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Physical demands mainly include walking, climbing stairs, sitting or standing for long periods of time and occasionally lifting to 50 pounds.

Where You’ll Go

As a team, we are going into the world daily! This position may also occasionally require some overnight travel for retreats and conferences. Overall, the travel requirement for this position is 10%.
