Job Title: Director or Assistant Pastor of Soul Care
Purpose Statement:
The Director/Assistant Pastor of Soul Care will partner with the Pastor of Soul Care in carrying out the vision for Soul Care at College Park Church, particularly with regard to caring for married couples and families. This position will provide leadership to College Park’s marriage ministry, engage in marriage and family counseling to church members, help oversee various aspects of the Soul Care ministry, and assist with training others for the ministry of soul care. This person will also work collaboratively with other ministry leaders to help infuse one another care into every aspect of ministry at College Park. This position reports to the Pastor of Soul Care.

Responsibilities:
Marriage & Family Ministry Leadership (50%)
- Develop and oversee a marriage ministry that spans premarital counseling, marriage discipleship and enrichment, and marriage counseling
- Consistently engage in marriage and family counseling with College Park members and regular attenders
- Train lay marriage counselors and help them grow in their ability to handle marriage & family counseling
- Coach and support our lay marriage & family counseling team
- Grow a network of like-minded professional marriage & family counselors with whom to partner in caring for congregants
Soul Care Ministry Leadership (30%)
- Collaborate with the Soul Care staff team to help our church prioritize spiritual depth and health and to promote one another spiritual care
- Assist the Pastor of Soul Care in recruiting and training church members who can serve as lay counselors and minister in various counseling settings
- Help with the oversight and coaching of lay counselors
- Assist with leading Soul Care groups as needed
- Assist with individual counseling as needed
Leadership (10%)
- Collaborate with the Adult Discipleship Team and other College Park pastors and leaders to incorporate Soul Care throughout College Park’s ministries
- Assist with training and equipping for pastors and elders to help us continually move our shepherding efforts forward throughout the parishes
- Help cast a general vision for soul care to the congregation, church staff, and lay leadership
Church Staff (10%)
- Promote like-mindedness and synergy throughout the entire College Park staff regarding the importance of discipleship and biblical soul care
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn the culture and DNA of College Park Church in order to help navigate the challenges, issues, and situations within the church with great tact, wisdom, and compassion
- Function as member of Staff Care team by providing one-time or short-term counsel to staff members and/or spouses as requested
Additional Periodic Responsibilities
- Assist in various Adult Discipleship team duties as needed
Candidate Profile:
- A minimum Bachelor's and preferably a Master's Degree in related field
- Able to affirm the confessional statement of the Biblical Counseling Coalition (https://biblicalcounselingcoalition.org/confessional-statement/)
- A growing and self-motivated leader who is able to leverage the resources of the biblical counseling movement to equip the church, partner with like-minded professional counselors in our community, and learn discerningly from the field of clinical counseling
- Trained and experienced in caring compassionately and wisely for people who have been impacted by trauma
- Demonstrated ability to counsel married couples experiencing complex challenges
- Demonstrated ability in teaching and equipping with passion and clarity
Necessary Skills & Abilities:
- A strong composition of many or all of the following: mercy, administration, leadership, teaching/coaching, and collaboration
- Clear ability to inspire people to apply Scripture in daily life and relationships
- Capable of handling conflict and all circumstances with wisdom, maturity, and discernment
- Able to articulate ideas clearly with well-developed interpersonal skills. Offers biblical truth and instruction that is both sensitive, patient, and yet firm and compelling.

Spiritual Development:
- Demonstrates a stable, mature Christian walk, exhibiting the fruit of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23)
- Is a member of College Park Church in good standing or willing to become a member
- Committed to personal spiritual growth and provides humble, loving spiritual leadership for his wife and children (if applicable)
Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time, exempt role totaling approximately 40-45 hours weekly.
- Must be willing to work Sunday mornings and some evenings.
- Attendance at staff meetings and other staff functions.
- Attendance at elder meetings (if an Assistant Pastor)
