About this role:
The Risk Management & Strategic Initiatives role will be responsible for identifying & assessing risk across the Bank that could impact its reputation, safety, security, or financial success. This individual will partner with business lines and other support functions to develop and implement frameworks that identify, monitor and mitigate financial, operational, and other non-financial risks (such as strategic and reputational risk). This role will be of critical importance as there are several strategic initiatives underway that will impact the Bank’s risk profile.

About this role:
The Risk Management & Strategic Initiatives role will be responsible for identifying & assessing risk across the Bank that could impact its reputation, safety, security, or financial success. This individual will partner with business lines and other support functions to develop and implement frameworks that identify, monitor and mitigate financial, operational, and other non-financial risks (such as strategic and reputational risk). This role will be of critical importance as there are several strategic initiatives underway that will impact the Bank’s risk profile.
In this role you will:
- Support the Bank’s “People First” focus and rules of engagement—maintaining a professional demeanor, working as an active member of the CNOB team, providing clients excellent service, always striving to make CNOB “A Better Place to Be”.
- Lead and contribute to the design and implementation of risk management frameworks based on industry leading practices.
- Spearhead the risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) process by educating and leading stakeholders through the framework. Collect and analyze documentation, test controls, analyze trends, develop reporting, and provide effective challenge over stakeholder findings
- Communicate results clearly and efficiently to provide guidance enhancing the control environment
- Further build out the operational risk framework elements, such as issue and incident management.
- Assist in the enablement of bank-wide initiatives that may introduce material shifts in the Bank’s risks profile.
- Assist in the buildout and implementation of a scenario analysis framework.
- Establish policies and procedures to identify and address risks across the Bank.
- Review and assess risk management policies and protocols; make recommendations and implement modifications and enhancements.
- Draft and present risk reports, proposals and other findings to executive leadership.
- Strong “People First” interest and ability.
- Knowledge of relevant Federal and State banking regulations (CFPB, FDIC, NJDOB, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks (COSO, for example) and how to apply them to risks such as model risk, other operational risks, and non-financial risks.
- Familiarity with banking operations and systems (e.g. nCino, FIS) or other financial technology firms that play in the banking space.
- Familiarity with Bank security and safety practices.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong in Excel and Google Sheets. Familiarity with process mapping (e.g. Lucidchart).
- Proficient in PowerPoint
- Familiarity with analytical applications (Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong in project management concepts (e.g. RACI matrices, project planning).
- 7-10 years prior banking experience
- Undergraduate degree preferred
