Metal Grinder -- Manufacturing

Job Title: Grinding Operator
Pay Rate: $18-$22/hr.
Location: Warren, RI 02885
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30PM
 

Position Summary
Sets up and operates external grinding machinery to perform external grinding on magnet blanks according to specifications, tooling instructions, standard charts and knowledge of grinding procedures. Reads blueprint, job order, tooling instructions, and manufacturing router.
Essential Functions:

• Produces parts to drawing specifications in the shortest possible cycle time
• Sets-up and operates equipment
• Checks each part to ensure that all dimensions, tolerance and surface finish requirements are met
• Observes operation and adjusts equipment to utilize best practices
• Utilizes machining knowledge to determine type of holding fixture, tooling and wheel configuration to be used to insure a safe and efficient set-up of equipment

• Utilize electronically controlled I.D. grinders to grind the magnet to blueprint specifications
• Programs controls to set specified rotation speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts as well as the proper sequence of
• machining
• Observes operation and adjusts equipment to utilize best practices
• Verifies conformance of machined work pieces to specifications, using micrometers, calipers and fixed gauges
• Produces assigned parts to specifications while meeting performance standards
• Maintains equipment in are according to daily and weekly schedules
• Notifies supervisor and other personnel of production problems and assists in identifying and correcting these problems
• Acts in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment
• Pays close attention to the details of the tasks being performed in the area
• Demonstrates honesty, integrity and conduct that conforms to the businesses values and culture
• Assures all work is processed in a swift and a timely fashion with high quality result
• Possess strong self-motivation, drive and takes initiative to reach goals and target assignments
• Identifies and addresses safety concerns and adheres to all safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one (1) year prior grinding experience.
• Must be a US citizen or a US permanent resident.
• Must be local to the Rhode Island/Massachusetts area.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Able to read blueprints.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand constantly.
• Able to walk frequently.
• Must be able to bend, squat and kneel frequently.
• Able to handle and grasp tools/equipment and products repetitively.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 10 lbs. constantly.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally, anything over 30 lbs. would be a supported lift.
• Visual Acuity – Able to see close detail, distance and colors constantly.
• Able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment constantly.
