Responsibilities: • Develop and implement asset recovery strategies, best practices and continuous improvements to minimize losses and maximize recoveries. • Build and maintain a high performing team who have a sense of urgency and expertise with late-stage collections and asset recovery. • Monitor and report on key metrics and trends associated with late-stage collections and asset recovery and incorporate these into team performance and incentive plans. • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and credit union policies. • Negotiate and collaborate with members and outside parties to minimize losses and maximize recoveries by ensuring all appropriate remedies have been explored and actions have been taken prior to repossession. • Determine the most timely and appropriate actions for repossession when dealing with unique situations including bankruptcies, deceased members, and voluntary surrenders. • Establish and manage relationships with outside parties in support of asset recovery efforts including law enforcement, legal counsel and other third parties. • Ensure that partner account repurchases are taking place, as appropriate, where recourse is involved. Position Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field is Required • Juris Doctor (JD) degree Preferred. • 10 years of Credit Union, Banking or related Financial Services experience is Required • 5 years of experience in a people leadership, manager and above positions is Required • Experience with Collections, Recoveries, Bankruptcy, Litigation, and Collateral Protection Insurance is Required • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including CFPB, FDCPA, FCRA, and WCA • Excellent understanding of repossession laws, personal property lien statutes, and reinstatement laws across the U.S. • Experience managing outside parties including law enforcement, legal counsel and other third parties in support of asset recovery activities • Demonstrated negotiation skills with a willingness to work with a sense of urgency.
