AVP / VP operational risk role will be primarily responsible for assisting the Director of Operational Risk Management in support of Global Operational Risk Projects and Conning Hartford on going deliverables / projects (e.g. monthly risk report, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Business Continuity, etc.). As a shared resource provide support for the monthly Investment Compliance reporting process and Compliance Unit's projects.
The position will provide exposure to all Conning entities the business units within those entities and the opportunity to respond to shared supervision.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience with responsibility in operational risk management planning in an insurance or registered investment advisory firm. Master's degree preferred.
- Coordinate delivery of a clean SOC 1 to all clients,
- Coordinate risk register review and update process across affiliates
- Administer Third Party Risk Program,
- Support monthly operational risk KRI reporting,
- Update fraud policy and fraud assessments,
- Oversee business unit functional aspects of Business Continuity Plan (BCP) tests, recommend changes to BCP procedures,
- Perform focused reviews as required,
- Document processes as appropriate,
- Root cause analysis as necessary,
- Communicate with senior leaders in the organization, identify and quantify risks and opportunities. Recommend actions which could reduce the company's risk. Champion risk management thinking throughout the organization,
- Demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures, resulting in effective communication to all end users. Relies on extensive experience to plan and accomplish goals, as set forth by executive management.
- Develop metrics to measure and track performance of targeted benefits which result from implemented risk improvement / cost reduction initiatives.
- Responsible for planning and directing business analysis and risk modelling which provide maximum protection of the organization's assets.
- Experience in project management preferred which includes leadership in organizing, planning and executing large scale global projects from development through implementation across all organizational lines of business.
- Data visualization, formulating into high level presentation from data sets.
- Experience implementing or enhancing on fraud self-assessments for business units (cross checking efficiencies).
- Responsible for working risk control self-assessments.
- Ability to communicate to senior management regarding risk assessments, control operations and potential control failures.
- Managing third party vendor risk management for internal and external customers and executive management.
- Ability to communicate the needs to upper management regarding risk and ways to improve processes.
- Ability to be consultative regarding strategic conclusions.
- Capable of developing a vision of continuous improvement through the adoption of best practices.
