What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction position at Conroe Independent School District?
Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs. Ensures that educational practices align with district goals, state standards, and the diverse needs of students. Collaborates with teachers, administrators, and other district leaders to enhance instructional practices, provide professional development, and promote student achievement across grade levels. Coordinates the integration of research-based instructional strategies, development of assessments to inform instruction, and drives continuous improvement to foster an inclusive and effective learning environment.
Develop, and implement the scope of written curriculum and specification of curriculum guide components, to ensure district-wide curriculum articulation and development, and to establish an internal curriculum management plan.
Create and implement systems of identifying District equality issues, assessing curriculum connectivity, using test data appropriately, and monitoring curriculum and instruction delivery through the use of teacher appraisals and walk-throughs processes.
- Supervise and provide leadership guidance for the coordinators and department staff.
- Direct curriculum and instructional services to meet the needs of the students.
- Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs with teachers, principals, and coordinators including TEKS, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Work with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.
Use research-based findings to support and improve the instructional program.
- Use a systematic approach to analyzing student achievement data and provide support through the appropriate resources to improve test scores.
- Conduct studies and program evaluations to monitor program(s) effectiveness, making adjustments/improvements as needed based on findings.
- Apply knowledge of state laws pertaining to curriculum, instruction, and staff development and manage Texas Education Agency (TEA) reports related to this area.
- Assist with the management of purchasing, distribution and collection of instructional materials for the District.
- Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting textbooks and other instructional materials to meet students’ learning needs.
- Comply with state, District, and school regulations.
- Direct and guide staff development district-wide and for new teacher induction.
- Evaluate job performances of coordinators, specialists, and staff to ensure effectiveness and accountability.
- Monitor budgets and align all local, state, and federal monies to curricular needs.
- Ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
- Participate in the district-level decision making process to establish and review the District’s goals and objectives.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
- Use management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision making among staff members.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to the superintendent or designee(s).
- Adhere to guidelines established by TEA, Board policies, and administration regulations.
- Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in appropriate meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Demonstrate awareness of District/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
- Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
- Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job performance.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for the District staff.

- Three years of successful teaching experience
- Staff development experience (i.e. planning, presentations)
- Experience in curriculum and assessment development
- Experience on use of research-based instructional strategies to support diverse learners
Three years of successful experience as an campus administrator or district curriculum and instruction leader
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree
- Valid teaching certificate
- Instructional Leadership Training (ILT) or Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL)
- District approved teacher appraisal system

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will include supervising various curriculum area coordinators and a paraprofessional assistant.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. District and out-of-district travel. Prolonged and irregular hours.
