We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Resource Assistant for Trail Maintenance and Recreation Management. This role offers a unique chance to gain experience in trail maintenance and recreation administration. You will be working closely with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, a renowned institution in the field of forest management. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Sitgreaves Zone in implementing Great American Outdoors Act Funding designated to reduce deferred maintenance on non-motorized trails across the zone.
As a Resource Assistant, your tasks will include:
- Crew coordination: acting as a liaison between the zone staff and AZCC trail crews and volunteers
- Performing trail maintenance: independent trail work and light maintenance, developing a sign plan and installing needed signs
- Creating a written 5-year plan for maintaining district trails on Black Mesa and Lakeside Ranger Districts
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in trail maintenance and proper trail construction, such as a season or more with a conservation corps or youth trail crew. You must also have a valid driver's license and be insurable by Conservation Legacy.
