Unit Notes - Unit : ACU - Combo of Telemetry, medsurg, and DOU - # beds : 50 beds - Certs : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS - Ratios : 1 to 5 medsurg, 1 to 4 tele, 1 to 3 for DOU - EMR : Cerner - Charge Nurse : Yes - Nurse Aides : depends on census - Weekend Requirement : every other - Holidays : one major and one minor - Scrub Color : navy -Tele Monitors : phillips - they do have a monitor tech, NURSES MUST BE ABLE TO READ STRIPS - Do nurses read strips : yes - Drips : yes - cardizem, amoidarone (non-titrating) - Vents : yes - bipap or cpap, DOU will sometime get chronic vents, travelers will not work DOU - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house : Yes - on call after hours, hospitalist is shared between SJRMC and SJPVH - IV Team : No - RT 24 / 7 : yes - Pharmacy 24 / 7 : yes - Shifts : 12 hr shifts, 6 : 45am-6 : 45pm, 6 : 45pm-6 : 45am, self scheduling but not guaranteed - Floating : ACU will float between medsurg and tele - Floor specific orientation : one shift at each facility - Common diagnosis / Types of patients : post surgical, ortho, cardiac
