Hospice Volunteer Program Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordinating, and managing of all volunteer program activities.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit and orient volunteers.
- Oversee volunteer training and orientation program.
- Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and hospice interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with team members and attend interdisciplinary team meetings, representing volunteers and contributing to patient care plans.
- Assign, coordinate and supervise volunteer activities, primarily: Direct patient care, Veteran appreciation, Administrative, Bereavement, and special projects as needed
- Maintain volunteer documentation
- Instruct in documentation requirements
- Receive and review volunteer reports and share this information with the team
- Record of volunteer hours, mileage and activities
- Supervise and evaluate volunteers
- Maintain quarterly statistics: prepare statistical reports such as records of volunteer activities and documentation that volunteer hours are >5% of direct patient care staff hours.
- Reevaluate volunteer program as necessary.
- Coordinate support/education meetings.
- Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
- Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
- Accept and perform other related duties and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with volunteer coordinators in other offices/states.
Qualifications:
- College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care setting. Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
- Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
- Understand hospice philosophy.
- Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
- Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
- Strong attention to detail
