What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Construction Company?
G.L. Capasso, Inc., a masonry restoration firm that has been in business for over forty years, is currently recruiting for a construction estimator for new masonry, waterproof, caulking and restoration projects.
The ideal candidates will have 5 years of estimating experience in the commercial industry, however we will consider candidates with 2-3 years of experience who are looking to get their "foot in the door" with a growing specialty construction company. Experience is desired, but not required.
Ideal candidates must have exposure to new masonry, new waterproof and new caulking takeoffs. Concrete repair, building envelope work and/or facade restoration projects a plus. Candidates with a strong working knowledge of the different access means to existing high structures (i.e. scaffolding and rigging) will be given preference. It would be a plus for candidates to have knowledge of current market prices and clients (engineers, property managers, building owners). However, market pricing is NOT required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Estimate new masonry, new waterproof and new sealants projects as well building envelope, and facade restoration and repair projects.
· Define and quantify scope of work and prepare comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects. Knowledge of market prices is not a requirement.
· Solicit material pricing and subcontractor pricing.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines; good written, verbal and communication skills necessary.
· Ability to create submittal and Haz Com packages.
· Maintain involvement in uncovering sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers. Perform light marketing and business development responsibilities to generate new business opportunities.
· Research and review historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
· Must have good interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written and be computer literate with knowledge of computer applications relevant to the position, including spreadsheet applications.
· Candidates with a Bachelor' Degree in Engineering or Construction Management will be given preference. Candidates should possess strong math and computer skills, and must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Salary : $80,000 - $150,000
