Position Summary
Constructors, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Heavy Haul Dispatcher. This position oversees and directs the daily trucking needs of the company superintendents and foremen using both internal and external equipment. Responsibilities include managing and communicating the daily driving activities of multiple drivers, while simultaneously meeting all DOT, FMCSA, and Company requirements and regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Manages trucking needs, both internal and rental equipment. Communicates directly with Superintendents and Foremen on daily and weekly equipment needs.

Schedules driver assignments and issues equipment to drivers according to needs or project requirements.

Plans location drop-offs and pick-ups on jobsites. Monitors weather system to assist with establishing delivery and/or pickup routes. Escorts oversize loads when needed.

Performs route surveys on large equipment moves, such as mobile asphalt plants.

Follows all DOT FMCSA and NEBCO rules in regard to dispatch of drivers and ensures all safety protocols are followed.

Orders city/county/interstate oversize/overweight truck permits per DOT rules and regulations.

Records time of departure, destination, and expected time of return. Maintains records of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses. Manages and tracks usage of equipment loaned to other NEBCO companies.

Coordinates and maintains constant communication with drivers to direct activities throughout the day.

Notifies appropriate personnel of accidents, customer complaints, and issues requiring additional attention.

Loads/Unloads incoming and outgoing trailers and/or materials.

Attends and participates in required company meetings, including Safety meetings.

Provides trailer training to drivers and other employees as needed.

Performs special projects and assists General Manager with various tasks, as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises drivers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Directly supervises three non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
  • 3 years of prior experience in dispatch management, production equipment, construction or related field; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Commercial Driver’s License is helpful, but not required.

Other Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to train, motivate, lead, and recruit truck drivers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly in person, via radio or telephone.
  • Able to take accurate notes and maintain documentation accurately.
  • Must be able to produce high quality, accurate work while coordinating a heavy workload department.  
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to maintain businesslike attitude when interacting with employees, drivers, customers and other personnel.
  • Ability to work in outside conditions.

Condition of Employment
Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.
