Position Summary
Constructors Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Shop Foreman to oversee and support shop and equipment operations. Responsibilities include supervision and training of mechanic technicians and diesel mechanics. This position works directly with the Parts Manager to ensure inventory of on-hand part and supplies. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervises shop mechanics by outlining work, ensuring tasks are completed as required and providing necessary guidance and training.
- Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items.
- Works directly with Parts Manager to request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
- Operates company equipment required, such as forklift and loader, for the purpose of supporting completion of work activities.
- Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
- Maintains and assures cleanliness of shop area and assuring safety standards are met.
- Maintain work orders, vehicle records, and other required documentation.
- Keeps up to date with knowledge and skills by participating in applicable educational opportunities
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises crew of mechanic technicians and diesel mechanics
Education and/or Experience:
- Associates degree in related field; and
- 5 years’ related experience with managing a team, truck/automotive repair, heavy equipment and shop operations; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have a valid driver's license (Class C) to occasionally drive non-commercial vehicles and be insurable under the company insurance program.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of diesel engines and standard motor vehicles and proven mechanical troubleshooting/electrical skills.
- Must be able to work with various hand tools of the trade and provide own tools.
- Must have good manual dexterity and good motor coordination skills.
- Must be flexible regarding work assignments.
- Ability to read and comprehend work orders, SDS sheets, schematics and technical guides and the company safety manual.
- Must have good understanding of measurements.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to operate with minimal supervision and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems.
- Willingness to perform other support duties during non busy times.
- Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
