Our company is seeking experienced an Mechanical Inspector to oversee on-site construction activities for building facilities of various sizes and complexities. This role of Site Inspector involves field inspections, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with project teams to maintain quality and safety.
Responsibilities for Construction Inspector:
- Conduct field inspections to verify that MEP installations align with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- Monitor contractor activities, confirm work-in-place quantities, and maintain accurate record drawings
- Review and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Prepare daily reports detailing site conditions, workforce data, equipment usage, and photographic records
- Assess project schedules, materials, and construction methods to identify potential risks or inefficiencies
- Validate shop drawings, change orders, and RFI responses
- Coordinate pre-construction meetings to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations
- Assist with special inspections and provide recommendations on field conditions
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements for MEP Superintendent:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction inspection, MEP systems, or project management
- OSHA 30-hour certification required; familiarity with NYC DOB regulations is a plus
- Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and effective communication skills
Work Conditions
- Frequent site visits, including climbing ladders and scaffolding
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs
- Exposure to varying temperatures, outdoor elements, and noisy environments
