Welding Inspector / QC/QA Specialist
Erie, PA (100% Onsite Position Monday - Friday)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Welding Engineer / Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) with 5 years of combined experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA), metal fabrication, teaching, weld engineering, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industry standards, codes, and manufacturing practices in ASME Pressure Vessel and Piping Systems, and heavy manufacturing sectors.
As a critical member of our team, you will oversee the quality and integrity of welding processes and ensure adherence to the highest industry standards, driving continuous improvement in our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all QC/QA activities related to welding, metal fabrication, and NDT processes.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of ASME, AWS, and API codes to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Perform and supervise inspections using VT, with knowledge of other NDT methods (X-ray, UT, MT, PT)on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Provide expert guidance on various welding techniques, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW (including Lincoln STT and Pulse wave for welding), SAW, and LBW for both manual and semi-automatic processes.
Interpret and apply welding symbols and blueprints to verify weld integrity and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and drive process improvements in manufacturing and welding procedures.
Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving during manufacturing and welding processes.
Qualifications:
Education: Any degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in QC/QA, welding engineering, NDT, and metal fabrication in ASME Pressure Vessel and Piping Systems, rail, aerospace, and heavy manufacturing industries.
Certifications: Certified in ASME, AWS, and API codes. NADCAP certification experience is highly preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy.
Expertise in GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW, and LBW welding processes with demonstrated hands-on experience.
NDT certification (VT) with practical experience in various detection methods. (Knowledge of other NDE (RT, MT, PT methods a plus).
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills—comfortable working with all personality types.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and welding symbols to ensure quality standards.
Reliable, dedicated, and proactive in problem-solving and continuous learning.
Ability to adapt to various codes, standards, and industrial practices.
Desired Skills:
Strong teaching and mentoring experience in a welding environment.
Familiarity with manufacturing and inspection best practices for Pressure Vessels and Piping Systems) aerospace, rail, and heavy industries.
In-depth knowledge of welding metallurgy and defect analysis.
Experience with advanced welding techniques, including robotic and automated welding systems.
Strong understanding of weld joint design and its influence on mechanical properties.
