What are the responsibilities and job description for the ETK - Youth Respite Provider Needed position at Consumer Direct Care Network?
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and energetic Respite Provider for a young boy with autism. He is verbal and loves to use his voice, often fixating on topics. Generally speaking, he has a loving nature. The ideal candidate will be someone who can set clear and firm boundaries while providing a nurturing and safe environment, as the child may be prone to wandering and pushing boundaries
Pay: $17.66/Hour (After Tax Rate)
Location: Eau Claire, WI - In the child's home/community
Schedule: Flexible shifts - 7 hours/week available - TBD between family & provider
- Weeknights (between 5:00pm-9:00pm)
- Weekend morning/afternoons (between 10:00am-4:00pm)

Key Responsibilities:
- Behavior Support: Set firm but gentle boundaries to help manage behaviors. Be prepared to provide support and guidance in a compassionate manner.
- Elopement Prevention: Due to a history of wandering, direct supervision is required to ensure his safety. Provide vigilant monitoring in both familiar and unfamiliar settings.
- Emotional Support: Recognize and respond to emotional triggers, offering comfort and guidance during moments of distress. Be patient and understanding of his emotional needs.
- Activity Engagement: Keep him engaged with appropriate activities while maintaining safety, especially given his tendency to wander.
- Food Monitoring: Ensure proper food intake and support with eating as needed, making sure meals are balanced and monitored.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with autism or special needs is preferred.
- Ability to provide 24/7 supervision and create a safe, engaging environment.
- Strong communication skills, especially in handling emotional situations and understanding verbal cues.
- Calm, yet firm, demeanor with the ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to think quickly and creatively to ensure the child remains engaged and safe at all times.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation - Must be comfortable driving in different weather conditions
- Willing to undergo a caregiver background check upon hire
*Must be able to successfully pass a background check before being hired. If hired, Consumer Direct Care Network (CDCN) will not be your legal employer on record. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, your legal employer on record would be the Member. CDCN’s role is to assist the Member or Managing Party in recruiting a Direct Care Worker. The Member or Managing Party has the sole authority to hire or dismiss any potential Direct Care Worker.
