Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Respite Care Provider to assist a young individual with cerebral palsy in their home. The role involves providing personal care, feeding assistance via a feeding tube, and transfers using a Hoyer lift. The ideal candidate will have experience with physical disabilities and be comfortable with both routine and emergency care.
Care Provided in the Client's Home
Schedule & Compensation:
- 20 hours per week
- - Pay: $17.66 per hour
AND
- 2 overnights per month
- - Pay: $256.00 per overnight
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Assist with feeding via feeding tube per the care plan
- Perform safe transfers using a Hoyer lift
- Monitor the client’s well-being throughout each shift
- Engage in activities that support the child’s emotional and mental health
- Record care provided and report any changes in the client’s condition
- Assist with light household tasks and meal preparation
- Administer medications as directed
- Collaborate with the family and other caregivers to ensure consistent care
- Provide overnight care as needed, ensuring the client’s comfort and safety
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with cerebral palsy or similar disabilities preferred
- Comfortable with personal care tasks and Hoyer lift transfers
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable
- Strong communication and emergency response skills
- Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist with transfers and personal care tasks
- Ability to remain alert during overnight shifts
- Ability to pass a criminal/caregiver background check
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
