Personal Care Assistant-weekend and on-call

PCA Personal Care Assistant
A PT caretaker for a special needs child. Male 14 yr-old non-verbal/assisted-walking child. Child uses an assisted communication-talking device And has a wheelchair.

Responsibilities include all around living care to include:

• dressing,
• meal prep,
• eating,
• clean up,
• walking,
• playing,
• bathing
• and bathroom.
• Will assist with ABA therapies, PT and ST.
• Caretaker will need to engage yourself with child to play or read.
• Outside time is a must during all seasons. Caretaker should be able to go out on outings.
• Caretaker should be able to cook for child and clean up after child.
• Some of the day will be observation/supervision to ensure safety.

Any experience with Autism is a plus. Patience and caring is required. You must be willing to learn and be specialty trained to assist with behavior (ABA) treatments.

Position can require physical strength at times. Lift assistance will be taught on how to physically lift. Child uses a wheelchair. Must be comfortable with dog & cats.

M-F assistance is needed from 1:00 to 6:00 at child’s home. Weekend hours for no more than 4 hours a shift. Summer hours are from 8 to 6. Could be two shifts. The majority of hours will be fulfilled on weekends and weekdays will be a week-by-week basis.

Must be 18 or older. Must be non-smoking and only wear light scents. Should wear appropriate comfortable clothing. Must have transportation. Be ready to provide references.

Paid by state for DC area. Opportunity for monthly bonus is also provided by parent based upon dependability and care provided.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $17.62 - $19.62 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 16 per week
