We are looking for a compassionate Youth Respite Provider to support a lively young boy with non-verbal autism. The ideal candidate will be patient, engaging, and skilled in creating a fun and enriching environment. Comfort with alternative communication methods, such as using an AAC device, is essential. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a positive, quiet, and patient approach to help make the child's care enjoyable and meaningful.
Respite is provided in the child's home.

Flexible Schedule to be Designed in Advance with Managing Party (Parent)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one direct care and supervision for an energetic young boy with non-verbal autism.
- Learn about the child's communication strategies using alternative communication methods.
- Engage the child in high-energy, fun, and age-appropriate activities, including games, sports, walks, or recreational activities while ensuring their safety.
- Assist with personal cares, including toileting, while maintaining the child’s privacy and dignity.
- Offer consistent encouragement to foster the child’s skills, confidence, and interests.
- Monitor the child’s behavior, responding with patience, adaptability, and understanding.
- Be mindful of sensory needs, providing a calm, quiet and supportive environment.
- Safely address elopement concerns, ensuring the child remains within the boundaries of supervision.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children, especially those with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Experience with non-verbal children or those with communication challenges is preferred.
- Comfortable using communication tools like a word board or other augmentative communication methods.
- High-energy and proactive, with the ability to engage in physical activities with the child.
- Able to assist with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Patient, flexible, and understanding in responding to the child’s needs.
- Ability to create a calm, quiet and supportive environment in energetic situations.
Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation, valid drivers license and auto insurance.
- Must have the ability to pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a CPR Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
