Contessa is the crown jewel of dining atop one of Boston’s most glamorous hotels, The Newbury Boston. Delightfully re-imagined, this rooftop destination is inspired by the old-world resorts of Europe and the lasting estates of Italy where classic grand trattoria cuisine awaits.
As a valuable addition to our team, you must ensure that guests have a pleasant and memorable dining experience. The ideal candidates will be passionate and have a commanding knowledge about food, wine, and service in general. These individuals will be the key points of contact for guests throughout their dining experience. They must have the ability to work well with the team and provide the utmost level of hospitality to our guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Anticipate guests’ needs and ensure that service meets/exceeds expectations to ensure a memorable and pleasant dining experience.
- Inspect dining room, table settings, chairs, floors, proper maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
- Maintain knowledge of menu and presentation standards and sound knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques.
- Take orders, make recommendations, and ensure prompt and accurate service.
- Complete all opening and closing side work checklists consistently and to restaurant standards
- Supervise and coordinate the dining floor operations to ensure smooth service.
- Lead and motivate the service team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Maintain an up to date and working knowledge of menu and presentation standards of both food and beverage preparation techniques including our wine lists and be able to execute all tableside aspects when necessary.
- Develop a strong grasp of our cadence for the steps of service as to not only optimize the guest experience, but also to be able to willingly and effectively train your colleagues
- Maintain an understanding of and adhere strictly to all allergy related protocols
- Demonstrate the ability to properly communicate, support and work with other staff members in high volume settings.
- It's important to understand our service cadence and to train and coach colleagues in this process to ensure everyone's success and sufficient staff support.
- Guides the guest experience Goes over and above to ensure guest satisfaction. When we fall short in the guest’s expectations, “finds a way to win the guest over” and/or involve the manager.
- Duties as directed in order to ensure a smooth and elevated guest experience
- All employees are required to adhere to the Uniform and Grooming policies at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 2-3 years as a Captain in a fine dining/upscale, high volume restaurant preferred.
- Professional, articulate, friendly, and punctual.
- TIPs or ServSafe Certification preferred.
- Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional service.
- Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays).
- Proficient in computer skills including POS systems.
- Adherence to Safety and Alcohol protocols
- Adherence to Allergy SOPs and Protocols
- Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift 30 lbs.
