What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compounder (1st Shift) position at Continental Manufacturing?
Do you like things in a specific order? Do you have good attention to detail? Do you like staying busy, working with your hands, and keeping physically engaged with your work? We've got the job for you!
The Compounder is responsible for staging, weighing, adding and mixing raw materials as directed by batching instructions (recipes) to produce a wide variety of products. This position would be in our Madrid facility, which primarily focuses on products catering to livestock and pets (such as pet shampoos, for example). This person should be a determined self-starter who works well in a team environment as well as on their own. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Documentation Principles, FDA & EPA regulations, and safety protocols is a must.
Job Duties:
- You will follow a "recipe" of all basic, raw materials for each product you blend.
- At times, you will be required to manually add ingredients from a platform, so there are some minimal heights involved (will be accessed via ladder, following ladder training).
- Adding and moving ingredients can be physically demanding. Some of the containers can be over 50lbs.
- Sometimes the mixing process gets a little messy - both in the usage of raw materials & the water involved - so, you'll need to be okay with getting your hands dirty and cleaning up when you are done. Uniforms are provided.
- Monitoring the USP water system and performing scheduled sanitation (cleans).
- Keeping an eye on the availability of the base raw materials to accommodate scheduled production, and maintaining raw material (chemical) storage in a neat and orderly fashion.
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma/GED required
- 2-6 months chemical mixing/compounding experience preferred
- Forklift certification, or willingness and capability to become certified within first 30 days
Other Skills:
- Strong attention to detail
- Accuracy in following written and verbal instructions in English
- Basic mathematical calculations
- Mechanical aptitude
- Process oriented
- Capacity to understand (and eventually make) pH and viscosity adjustments
- Focus on safe, accurate and timely task completion
- Flexibility to work overtime and/or adjusted shifts when production demands
1st Shift at our Madrid facility is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday (x5 10-hour shifts).
