What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler (1st Shift) position at Continental Manufacturing?
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Material Handler to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a standing or sit-down forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform order picker duties as well as unloading incoming trucks.
1st Shift is 5:15am - 4:15pm, Mon - Thurs (x4 10-hour shifts)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Operate a forklift to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload products from trucks.
- Inspect forklifts daily before usage to ensure safe operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, such as refueling and lubricating as needed.
- Adhere to safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by verifying quantities and condition of goods.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and stacking products as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a leadership role.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a forklift operator preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse practices and material handling equipment.
- Capability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
