The Compounding Supervisor will oversee and manage a team of 7-10 personnel in the compounding department of our chemical manufacturing company. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate measurement, mixing, and processing of raw materials to produce high-quality chemical compounds. This role ensures adherence to defined formulas, procedures, and safety standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
This role is a key member of our Operations leadership team and integral to our success within the industry and in servicing our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Supervise daily operations of the compounding team, ensuring adherence to formulations and procedures.
- Operate and monitor mixing and blending equipment following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct quality checks and inspections throughout the compounding process to ensure product integrity.
- Document and report any deviations or anomalies in the production process promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards at all times.
- Set up, operate, and thoroughly clean compounding equipment and machinery.
- Manage the capturing, recording, and proper disposal of waste generated from finished products.
- Assemble clean transfer containers for new bulk products and manage transfers of finished bulk materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all batch production processes, including ingredient usage, batch numbers, and production times.
- Complete required paperwork and data entry for inventory management and quality control purposes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Follow environmental and regulatory guidelines pertaining to chemical handling and disposal.
- Collaborate closely with quality control, production, and warehouse teams to ensure effective workflow and product quality.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status and concerns.
- Promote a workplace culture focused on continuous improvement and quality excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in management, industrial relations, business administration or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
- 2 years of experience in a production supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO standards.
