Job Summary
The Data Steward is charged with improving data quality across the company. This position will influence stakeholders to ensure data is captured consistently and accurately across all systems so it can be leveraged efficiently for reporting and analytics. The ideal candidate has a passion for building cross-functional relationships, solving business problems, and improving data management processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Use SQL to develop quality rules in Continental’s Data Quality Center
Work with Business teams and IT Application Support teams to resolve issues identified in the Data Quality Center
Create and maintain information within Alation, Continental’s Data Catalog, including business term definitions, data definitions, data flow diagrams, and data entry guidelines
Exert influence to create alignment where there are disjointed or inconsistent data capture processes
Proactively profile data across sources to identify issues and work with stakeholders to remedy
Educate employees about data management best practices, policies, and procedures to promote a data-driven culture
Provide technical support for Continental’s Data Catalog, Data Quality Center, and Master Data Management Solution as needed
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
Apply SQL skills to independently develop data quality rules within Databricks across 1 or many data sources
Use SQL, Spotfire or other methods to profile, QC and compare data across data sources
Understanding of the E&P well data lifecycle and associated business processes
Understanding of oil and gas application data models including Aries, Quorum, SAP, WellView, SiteView, ProCount and others
Advanced written and verbal communication skills; high degree of organizational awareness and attention to detail
Able to efficiently solicit and document data flows and the related business processes
Able to facilitate peer and stakeholder engagement
Delivers informative, well-organized presentations and documentation
Able to execute project management and change management practices
Ability to quickly adapt and exemplify flexibility around process changes and shifting priorities

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the Oil and Gas industry working in a data-related role
Strong communication skills: Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Science/Management, Business, Finance or a related field
Advanced-level SQL skills
Strong understanding of oil and gas applications and their data models including Aries, Quorum, SAP, WellView, SiteView, ProCount and others.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
