The primary role of the Licensed Substance Abuse Professional is to drive the delivery of this 24/7/365 service, utilizing a team approach, including provision of services that will include direct and indirect interventions. CST is provided in a variety of locations. This service consists of community-based mental health and substance use services, and structured rehabilitative interventions intended to increase and restore a beneficiary’s ability to live successfully in the community. The team approach involves structured, face-to-face therapeutic interventions that assist in reestablishing the beneficiary’s community roles related to the following life domains: emotional, behavioral, social, safety, housing, medical and health, educational, vocational, and legal. The individual’s clinical needs are evidenced by the presence of a diagnosable mental illness, substance-related disorder as defined by the DSM-5 (or current version), or both with symptoms and effect documented in the comprehensive clinical assessment and the Person Centered Plan. CST shall provide “first responder’ crisis response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to recipients of this service.
The substance Abuse Professional will focus on supporting individuals Substance Abuse issues in a variety of locations such as, residential, school, workplace and community settings. He/she will coordinate and monitor the array of services and supports identified in each person’s Person Centered Plan. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Staff ratio takes into consideration evening and weekend hours, needs of special populations and geographical areas to be served.
