What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern/Junior Associate position at Contos Dunne Communications?
Looking for an intelligent, organized and detail oriented person who learns fast, and can work independently and ensure expectations and deadlines are met. 100% remote work with flexible hours (averaging 5 hours a week). Job duties are largely administrative. The position requires candidates with excellent writing and speaking skills. To start, this would be focused on creating one monthly media coverage report for one client. That includes daily work in adding and categorizing media coverage, sharing coverage with the client over email and searching for media coverage on the web. Candidate is expected to keep emails organized so that the report each month is complete.
Candidate will be required to ensure coverage is accurately categorized, duplicate coverage is eliminated, competitor coverage has been cleaned, checklists are followed, and reports and messages are presented to clients in the most impactful way possible. The position requires strategic thinking, efficiency, and the ability to lead the project, which would include independent thinking to ensure the end goal is being met or exceeded. We prefer a fast learner and someone who is acutely detail oriented. Following training, the candidate is expected to lead the project on their own with minimal to eventually no oversight.
If the candidate excels, the role can evolve into broader activities, including monthly media coverage reports for additional clients, media outreach, strategy and communications, database updates, researching and reporting award and speaking opportunities to clients, creating briefing pages, and client engagement, among other activities. If the role is expanded, the associate will help support all members of the agency in the day-to-day functions of media relations and the satisfaction of client needs. It will require those who can interact effectively with other associates in the firm, clients, and the media. Additionally, extroversion and confidence are key personality traits for role expansion, as well as critical and analytical thinking necessary to meet the job challenges, solve problems, make decisions, and conduct research. Experience using Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word and with web research are preferred, but not required. Position is a good opportunity for those looking to get started in public relations.
