We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Installation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of low voltage cabling infrastructure in commercial and/or residential buildings and surrounding areas. This role involves a wide range of tasks, from installing conduit and pulling cable to terminating and testing connections. Responsibilities:
- Installation:
- Install various types of conduit (EMT, PVC, flexible) in compliance with building codes and industry standards.
- Pull and route low voltage cables (Cat5e/6, coaxial, fiber optic) through conduit and pathways.
- Install cable support systems (J-hooks, cable trays, ladder racks).
- Terminate cables using appropriate connectors (RJ45, BNC, fiber optic connectors).
- Install and configure network racks and patch panels.
- Mount and connect devices such as security cameras, access control panels, and network equipment.
- Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Test installed cable runs to ensure proper connectivity and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any cabling issues.
- Use testing equipment such as cable testers, multimeters, and OTDRs.
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on existing cabling infrastructure.
- Identify and repair or replace faulty cables and connections.
- Safety:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other:
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Stay up-to-date on industry standards and technologies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Low Voltage Installation Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage cabling standards and practices.
- Proficiency in terminating various types of cables.
- Experience with conduit installation and cable pulling techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
