What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation PLC Programmer III position at Control Systems 21?
As a PLC Programmer, located in Bridgeport, WV and you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining PLC programs for industrial automation systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing and developing SCADA applications to provide real-time monitoring, data visualization, and control functionalities for industrial processes. Your primary focus will be on Oil and Gas and Water Transfer projects, with additional responsibilities extending to projects in the manufacturing and food industries. You will ensure seamless communication between various automation components, integrating PLCs with SCADA systems and other automation components.

Position Overview:
We are looking to hire Automation PLC Programmer who can:
· Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up
· System monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting operational problems
· Specify, design, and build programs to be installed on the equipment, select, and configure other automation devices, such as VFDs for automation/control.
· Perform Wire Shark captures and interpret the data collected
· Set up VPN Tunnels and port-forwarding rules in managed switches/routers
· Source/simulate 4-20 mA signals
· Develop PLC and HMI Programs from scratch
· Coordinate directly with customers to schedule visits as needed
· Fully troubleshoot issues without assistance from a senior technician
· Create an estimate including parts/labor for upgrades and new systems
· Do a complete control panel design from engineering drawings
· Startup a new control panel in the field
· Provide guidance to field service staff in programming, repair, installation and maintenance of PLC systems
· Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using ladder logic, function block diagrams, or structured text to control various industrial processes and equipment, with experience or proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLCs preferred.
· Design and develop SCADA applications to provide real-time monitoring, data visualization, and control functionalities for industrial processes, utilizing platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk View.
· Integrate PLCs with other automation components such as HMIs, SCADA systems, sensors, actuators, and drives to create comprehensive automation solutions.
· Diagnose and resolve issues related to industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus, ensuring reliable communication between PLCs, SCADA systems, and other automation devices.
· Conduct thorough testing of PLC programs and SCADA applications to ensure proper functionality, adherence to specifications, and compatibility with existing systems, utilizing appropriate hardware and software tools.
· Create and maintain documentation including functional specifications, user manuals, and technical diagrams to support the development, integration, and operation of PLC programs and SCADA applications.
· Assist with the commissioning of PLC systems and SCADA applications at client sites, providing technical support during installation, startup, and ongoing operation.
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent required
- 2 Year Technology Degree, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred
- At least 5 years of related experience in the Automation Industry or related field preferred
- Candidate must have experience with programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs
- Experience with PLC hardware and software platforms from leading manufacturers.
- Experience in SCADA development, including designing and configuring SCADA applications for industrial automation.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols is a plus.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs preferred
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50Lbs, work on equipment-bending, kneeling, sitting, and/or standing
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a Drug Test and Background Check.
