Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of Transportation Officers within the sector.
• Oversee scheduling, assignments, and task delegation to ensure efficient and timely transportation operations.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to Transportation Officers.
• Conduct regular briefings, and debriefings, and ensure compliance with established protocols and procedures.
- Operational Management
• Ensure the safe and secure transportation of detainees between facilities and across borders, following all relevant regulations.
• Coordinate transportation routes and plans with sector management to optimize efficiency while maintaining security.
• Address any operational challenges, emergencies, or incidents that arise during transportation activities.
- Policy Enforcement and Compliance
• Enforce company policies, safety standards, and security protocols, including the correct use of controlled force techniques.
• Conduct inspections and audits to ensure officers comply with grooming standards, uniform policies, and code of conduct.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to border transportation and detention practices.
- Training and Development
• Oversee the training and development of new Transportation Officers, ensuring they are well-versed in controlled force, detainee handling, and safety protocols.
• Identify training needs and arrange for periodic refresher courses to enhance operational readiness and skills.
- Reporting and Communication
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on transportation activities, incidents, and officer performance to the Sector Manager.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between Transportation Officers and Sector Management, ensuring clear communication and resolution of issues.
• Report any significant incidents, emergencies, or non-compliance issues promptly to sector leadership.
- Performance Management
• Conduct performance evaluations for Transportation Officers, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Implement disciplinary actions when necessary, in consultation with the Sector Manager, in cases of policy violations or performance deficiencies.
- Resource Management
• Manage and maintain inventory of vehicles, equipment, and supplies necessary for transportation operations.
• Coordinate with other sectors and departments to ensure the timely replacement or repair of equipment as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation, law enforcement, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; additional training in criminal justice, transportation, or related fields is preferred.
• Certifications: Must possess or be willing to obtain certification in controlled force techniques, defensive driving, and first aid.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies.
- Proficiency in report writing and use of transportation management software.
Working Conditions:
This position involves significant travel, potentially under adverse conditions, and requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
