Position Title & Basic Details
Were looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment based in California. This is a remote contract position with approx. 10% travel, requiring 4 years of relevant experience. A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
Overview
In this role, youll be responsible for designing and developing automated test equipment for power electronic components across various products. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in mechanical design and thrives in a hands-on, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated test equipment, including detailed CAD models and pneumatic diagrams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during equipment testing and validation.
- Follow best practices and stay current on industry trends to continuously improve equipment performance and robustness.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys; familiarity with structural and thermal FEA and CFD is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years working on automation, machine design, robotics, and product development.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production.
- Exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots, and relays.
- Experience on student engineering teams such as BAJA or Formula SAE.
