Masters degree in educational psychology, counseling, or related field preferred. Three or more years of clinical experience and/or school psychology experience working with children. Demonstrated evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including group facilitation and coordination are needed to fulfill performance expectations for this position. SUMMARY: The School Psychologist will promote the educational and psychological well-being of the students who may require supportive services to benefit fully from the district’s educational program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To complete a comprehensive diagnostic, intellectual and/or social-emotional assessment, Functional Behavioral Assessment & Behavior Improvement Plan as determined by a Special Education Team. To serve on a multi-disciplinary team that is for the identification of a student with a suspected educational disability. To serve as the highly qualified examiner on IEP teams. To analyze, interpret, and present evaluations at special education team meetings. Possess a solid understanding of RtI to consult with staff around data based decision making and the use of data to determine interventions and/or appropriate supports for students. To provide the immediate supervisor with a schedule of students serviced and to keep thorough ongoing records for the individual students receiving therapy or counseling. To integrate information from a variety of sources including observation, assessment data, interviews and records in order to assist school teams in determining the educational disability and developing intervention plans for special education and non special education students. Review information received from sources outside of the school district and assist school teams in understanding and utilizing this information appropriately. To contribute knowledge of family/social systems when participating in decision-making related to students’ needs in areas such as detention issue, changes in placement, legal suspension or dismissal. To consult with parents and school staff in Instructional Support Team meetings to develop interventions and/or student supports. To provide in-service to staff that will augment knowledge and promote mental health for both students and teachers, and provide “best practice” models. To conduct counseling sessions with individuals and groups of school-age students and consult with their families using techniques that will encourage self-understanding and constructive behavior. To assist administration and instructional staff in behavior management strategies for students with challenging behaviors. To cooperate with community health, social welfare agencies, and the juvenile court. To develop an appropriate plan of professional development. To fulfill all other job related duties as requested by the Director of Student Services ADA MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED: The Physical activity of this position.  Seldom stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles. Seldom crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Seldom reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction Occasionally standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Frequently walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Seldom pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Seldom pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Seldom lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. Frequently fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Frequently grasping, applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Constantly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Constantly hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. Occasionally repetitive motion, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
