OT Cybersecurity Network Engineer
Location : Houston, TX
Job Summary : We are seeking a highly skilled OT Cybersecurity Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure and reliable network infrastructure for industrial and operational technology environments. This role will focus on securing OT networks against cyber threats, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and integrating IT and OT security frameworks. The ideal candidate will have expertise in industrial network security, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices to protect critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Implement and manage cybersecurity measures for OT networks, adhering to IEC 62443, NIST, and NERC-CIP standards.
Deploy and maintain firewalls, IDS / IPS, and access control systems to secure industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA environments.
Conduct risk assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management for OT infrastructure.
Develop and enforce security policies, incident response procedures, and cybersecurity awareness programs.
Network Security & Segmentation
Design and implement secure network segmentation strategies to protect OT environments from external threats.
Ensure secure integration of IT and OT networks, maintaining proper segmentation to mitigate attack surfaces.
Configure and manage VPNs, VLANs, and encrypted communication channels for industrial networks.
Perform continuous monitoring and anomaly detection to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
Incident Response & Threat Mitigation
Investigate security breaches and provide root cause analysis to mitigate risks.
Work closely with IT security teams to align OT security strategies with enterprise-wide cybersecurity frameworks.
Provide support for cybersecurity audits, compliance assessments, and forensic investigations.
Documentation & Collaboration
Develop and maintain network security diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and security incident reports.
Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and operations teams to enhance digital transformation initiatives securely.
Provide cybersecurity training and best practices to plant operators, engineers, and OT personnel.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of industrial network security protocols and standards.
Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS / IPS, and network access control solutions in OT environments.
Proficiency in securing ICS / SCADA systems, PLCs, and HMI networks against cyber threats.
Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or industrial network switches / routers .
Familiarity with Modbus, PROFINET, Ethernet / IP, DNP3 , and other industrial network protocols.
Knowledge of security frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST CSF, and NERC-CIP .
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering , or related field.
Preferred certifications : CISSP, GICSP, CCNP Security, CISM, or equivalent OT security certifications .
