Ministry Function
The Rural Initiatives Engagement Director supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by building and maintaining healthy relationships with rural ministry partners by providing them with effective deliverables (trainings, resources, etc.) according to Rural Initiatives program objectives and vision. Detailed activity will vary considerably based on individual community needs; however, prevalent Rural Initiatives principles, skills, and activities guide the function of the role as it relates to other Convoy of Hope values.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Expands Convoy of Hope’s influence and reach through representing the interests and goals of Rural Initiatives by overseeing and completing assigned projects.
- Facilitates and conducts Rural Initiatives trainings for pastors, churches, communities, and others.
- Engages congregational and denominational stakeholders to influence further development of local partnerships and church impact.
- Assists Convoy of Hope Rural Initiatives and field program teams, as assigned.
- Collaborates with Rural Initiatives leadership in the development of program models, initiatives, and deliverables.
- Speaks on behalf of the organization at churches and conferences and administers sacraments as requested.
- Collaborates and engages with other program areas as assigned.
- Fulfills all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree and/or compassion ministry experience is preferred.
- Possesses the ability to use a PC/Mac and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Workspace.
- Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills for adequately conveying the work of Convoy of Hope to outside constituencies.
- Demonstrates leadership and organization skills at the level needed to effectively lead a team of diverse individuals under stressful conditions.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills for handling several projects at one time.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills for dealing with teammates, pastors, volunteers, contractors, and disaster survivors.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope’s At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position may have supervisory responsibilities over volunteers.
