Ministry Function
The Special Events Manager works to further the ministry of Convoy of Hope by managing special events and trips that engage new and existing donors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates multiple international Hope Experience trips as assigned for prospective individual major donors and corporate donors.
- Executes all aspects of assigned trips, including assisting development representatives with extending invitations, tracking registrations, coordinating logistics, and leading teams on international Hope Experiences.
- Executes all aspects of Simon Dinners.
- Executes all aspects of Partner Relations Adventures.
- Develops and maintains the annual internal special events calendar.
- Participates in the creation of budgets for trips and events.
- Participates in the reconciliation of expenses and revenues for all specials events.
- Fulfills all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in event planning is preferred. A spirit of hospitality is required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with a variety of constituencies.
- Possesses strong verbal skills to share the vision of Convoy of Hope and to motivate donors to action.
- Displays strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain tact in difficult situations.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage quotas and deadlines.
- Possesses the ability to use a PC and software programs, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agrees with its Statement of Faith but demonstrates it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
