Ministry Function
The Women’s Empowerment Specialist supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope through Women’s Empowerment program design and development, including the facilitation of field resourcing and consultation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborates with field staff and partners to promote program effectiveness, cultural relevance, and desired project outcomes.
- Builds capacity of in-country field staff and implementing partners through consultation, resource development and provision, and facilitation of cross-field collaboration.
- Collaborates with other Convoy of Hope subject matter experts to promote program initiative integration.
- Develops program launch materials and provides program startup consultation.
- Advises on Women’s Empowerment programming standards in alignment with Global Program’s Theory of Change.
- Collaborates with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning staff to develop relevant data collection related to Women’s Empowerment indicators and other relevant areas.
- Travels to the field to assess, train, and support program initiatives as requested, especially in the program launch phase.
- Stays apprised of industry best practices and research to inform programming.
- Recommends and advises on the development of new opportunities for Convoy of Hope through partnerships, universities, governments, grants, and the private sectors in relation to Women’s Empowerment work.
- Advocates on behalf of Convoy of Hope through external representation, networking with appropriate organizations, and collaborating with partners as requested.
- Fulfills all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A master’s degree in international development, gender studies, social work, or another discipline relevant to the position is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Three or more years of experience in women’s empowerment/gender integrated programming or nonprofit experience in an international setting is required.
- International travel experience is required, along with the ability and willingness to travel internationally as requested.
- Demonstrates cross-cultural competency and familiarity with common issues regarding gender equality and women’s empowerment globally.
- Possesses advanced computer knowledge and experience on software platforms.
- Displays excellent written, oral, interpersonal, presentation, and project management skills.
- Exhibits ability to work within a collaborative team while demonstrating leadership capacity.
- Demonstrates ability to develop resources, training, and tools to build capacity of field staff.
- Displays proficiency in a secondary primary language (preferred).
- Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope’s At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has the capacity to oversee interns as assigned.
