OVERVIEW

The Office of the President is seeking a Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programs to join our team. This position is in the Office of the Cook County Board President and involves policymaking or implementation related to the administration’s political and policy views, requiring a high level of confidentiality.

    ROLE SUMMARY

    Develop, implement, and oversee initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the organization. Collaborate with leadership, employees, and external stakeholders to create a supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and ensures equity in all aspects of Cook County.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of comprehensive DEI programs and initiatives for county employees.
  • Execute DEI programs, initiatives, and policies to foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DEI principles and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Establish metrics to track progress on DEI goals and prepare regular reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on DEI program performance to leadership.
  • Collaborate with community outreach to promote DEI initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on DEI matters.
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated for DEI programs and initiatives.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in DEI.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge of methods and techniques essential for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of office management principles.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with discretion and tact.
  • Ability to manage professional and skilled support staff.
  • Ability to lead and make decisions regarding daily priorities.
  • Ability to set overall direction and hold staff accountable.
  • Ability to leverage organizational objectives to design efficient processes.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of four (4) years of experience working in diversity, equity, and inclusion plus two (2) years of supervisory experience OR an equivalent combination of professional work experience, training, and education.

    Physical Requirements :

    Light Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
