We are seeking a passionate and dynamic candidate to fill the role of Coordinator of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and join our team. This person will have an opportunity to play a critical role in supporting underrepresented student groups throughout their academic journey, as well as promoting an inclusive campus environment that values and supports the diversity of our community.
The Coordinator of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is primarily responsible for the Center for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, along with all internal and external cultural programming and messaging from the Center. The Coordinator of EDI is also responsible for the development and implementation of educational and cultural programming as well as the creation and maintenance of an African American student success mentoring program. The Coordinator of EDI will supervise student staff and all student group structures sponsored through the Center for EDI. Additionally, the Coordinator will serve as a retention specialist for underrepresented students in KCC’s campus, and serve as a transition specialist for prospective underrepresented student populations. The retention and transition specialist duties will be focused on the student’s academic, personal, and social needs. The Coordinator of EDI will serve as the liaison between the KCC and various community organizations focusing on underrepresented populations within the College’s service district.
A. Serves as an advocate and resource by establishing and maintaining relationships with students - as individuals and groups - through successful execution of culturally relevant programs and initiatives that build community for all student populations at KCC.B. Provides leadership for the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of an African American student success mentoring program.
C. Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships across campus units to serve underrepresented student populations.
D. Supervises the recruitment, selection, and recommendation process regarding hiring of student employees to support all initiatives sponsored through the Center for EDI.
E. Provides educational opportunities on equity, diversity, and inclusion topics that encourage the campus stakeholders to become better versed in related topics.
F. Serves as a retention specialist for current underrepresented student populations and transition specialist for prospective underrepresented student populations.
G. Oversees the development and implementation of strategies to seek grants related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
H. Centralizes diversity and inclusion efforts by working collaboratively with campus stakeholders. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to incorporate diversity education and training into the new and existing programs.
I. Works with the director of financial aid & student engagement and the vice president of student affairs in developing and overseeing the institutional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion assessment plan. Develops implements, and evaluates retention activities and programs for underrepresented student populations.
J. Works with students and student organizations as they explore their identities related to race, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, religion, and other aspects of their personhood.A. Bachelor's degree in a related field required, master's degree preferred.
B. Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students preferred.
C. Community college experience preferred.
D. Experience working with underrepresented student populations preferred.
E. Experience developing & implementing educational & cultural programming preferred.
F. Experience working with the public preferred.
G. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Spanish speaking and writing fluency preferred.
Salary : $52,624 - $65,457
